Autumn in Japan: Pick a Drink, Any Drink by

Image #3 of my “Autumn in Japan” series.

I’ve wanted to visit Asia since I was a teenager, and in October of 2010, my wish finally came true. I spent about 10 days in Japan.

My fascination with Asian culture and traditions finally became a reality to me, and the photographer in me went into overdrive. In 10 days, I captured 2,500+ pictures. I hope you enjoy my first (but hopefully not my last) perspective of this beautiful & amazing country.

To say that there are several vending machines in Japan would be a gross understatement. They are everywhere. In fact, as soon as I got off the plane at the Narita airport, they were there. This one was captured at TCAT. Let’s just say I never went thirsty while visiting Japan :) Captured with a Nikon D90 in October 2010.

Vignetting added in PSE 8.

Photography to me isn’t just about capturing beauty or magic. It’s about capturing life as it is. Whether that’s ugly, dirty, beautiful, complicated, simple or slightly altered – it’s the perception of the person behind the camera. That’s what makes the art of photography so real and unique, and that’s why it’s a passion that drives me and leaves me wanting more.

It’s always fun when you travel to see what the selection is and how things are packaged. Looks so neat with all the price tags too.

  • Yeah, it can be “fun” figuring out what stuff is by the pictures! I did a lot of pointing and nodding while I was there! :)

I pick Evian – everything else is a mystery! It is interesting to look at everything though as long as there is not a huge queue behind you. Some look more popular than others with the green lights on. Nice display of colour. How much would the Evian be in $Aus?

  • Oh yeah…Evian. I was thinking to myself “why is Jodie asking about the price of Evian? We have it in Oz.” But..we don’t! It’s in the US as well…not here in Oz. Anyhoo….Evian would be like the expensive bottled water here…maybe like the Fiji water? Thanks for stopping by! :)

I am pretty sure we did used to have Evian here. Anyway I was more interested in the exchange rate for a bottle of water as friends told me a few years ago that a green apple was about $6AUS when they were in Japan. I was wondering what 140 converted to,

  • Hmmmm…..ahhhh. I don’t know ;)
