"My Housework has been piling up!"

If I understand my geography of Bodie State Historic Park correctly, this is the interior of one of the Chinese Residences in Chinatown at the north end of the Park. I have previously used the excuse, “Sorry I haven’t (insert various social duties here) because my housework has been piling up.” However, I have never had adequate justification for using the excuse like this house shows as it continues its slow slide off its foundation and down the hill it was built on. I’m working on a new and better excuse so I can devote more time to snapping pictures (in the old days it was scorching film).
