San Jose, CA, UNITED STATES

I was born in San Jose, CA, but have also lived in nearly equal increments of time in Riedlingen, Germany; Santa Barbara, CA; and finally Colorado Springs, CO.

I am a Renaissance artist of sorts. Though my primary artistic expression is writing fiction; I have long been a visual artist in the realms of pencil drawing and photography, as well as an athlete and musician. I am an outdoor adventurer, and thus the thread that perhaps connects my various artistic passions together is Nature. Nature is a very important character in my writing, and surely, as you may observe, is predominant in my photographic vision. I should give credit to the vastly astounding work of Ansel Adams as my photographic inspiration (of which, you will certainly see glimpses of with a few photos). Adams and I particularly share a passion for unique perspective in natural photography, often requiring one to explore off the common trail, as well as a love for Yosemite National Park. Finally, we both share a vision to promote outdoor recreation as well as preservation with our art.

Though I hold digital photographers with respect, I do not consider myself one of that genre (though I use a digital camera). Instead, I find categorizing myself somewhat difficult, as I believe strongly in the difficult task of capturing natural light as best I can without any post-production editing of the photo. While digital photography is beautiful and often surreal, I find that its step outside of reality (i.e. lighting) not what I wish to pursue.

Thank you for taking some time to journey with me to the various scenes of beauty, however great or small, that have caught my attention. For me, photography still offers a long road ahead, of which I have only really begun to tread; and so I anticipate the visions and lessons (in art and in life) that will be discovered and captured along the way.
