Close to heaven

This view, of the mountain and prayer flags, taken at Ganden monastery in Tibet was magical. The air was thin and the walking tough, but it was worth it.

Absolutely fantastic. The colours are amazing.

Can I ask what you were doing here, are you a mountain climber James?

  • James Godber replied

Thanks again! Sadly not a mountain climber. I was once a runner, but that was before I moved to China….. As for why I was there, I just took a brief trip to Tibet last year and visiting Ganden was one of the things I did. I didn’t get far outside of Lhasa, but it’s a very beautiful place and I feel lucky to have been. More Tibet pics may follow…..

if you photograph typical cliches in asia (tibetan prayer flags, temples, geishas, buddhist monks, japanese cosplay etc)the challenge is, to make them not look like a cliche. i have seen thousands of prayer flag photos. but none like yours.

  • James Godber replied

Really? That’s one of the kindest things I think anyone has written about this or any of my other photos. Thank you!
