The Fisherman
In the distance, barely discernable on the rocks a lone fisherman stands. An unhappy fisherman it seems, giving his subsequent threats to call the police. Clearly it is his beach, his rocks, and clearly I was there for no other reason than to take his photo for some nefarious purpose from all of 200 metres away. Clearly I was going to use his image, and his intellectual property, to make my fortune at his expense. So disappointing for me that all that beautiful light, that tranquil water, those startling red rocks, the pink hues in the sky, and the distant cliffs prove to be such a distraction to the true purpose and subject of this shot.

What a wonderful shot John. It is so clean and the tones so rich. Alex is right – it’s so capturing on the viewer

Great shot.
The story is such a sad but true reflection on society.
I was embarrassed to be a photographer when I watched that horrible show about the paparazzi recently… no wonder some people hate being photographed. B%$#@rds!!

Sounds like that guy had a fishing rod stuck up his …... Great shot John, beautiful colour and light.

Awesome colours- a stunning image!-

Thanks for the comment David, and yeah it is sad that a simple unobtrusive individual joy to be out there taking a photo can be so misconstrued. Perhaps the Fisherman had a story and a reason but it didn’t make me any less steamed.

Thanks Travis, and if he didn’t he soon would have if he had’ve kept going on

Beautiful colours and composition John. I think I met his brother in Tassie who was going to sue me for taking a photo of his boat, I could only feel sorry for someone with so much anger in such a beautiful place.
John Dekker in reply to Geraldine Lefoe’s comment, about 1 month ago
thanks Geraldine…..it is such a shame, I was having a lovely time until this incident and it just got me so needlessly steamed up, ruining the experience
