Just in a little need of some work

This house has been photographed by David and myself on many occasions over the last 20 years.

It first came to our attention whilst doing a photo expose of “Abandoned Homesteads of the Wimmera” for a joint photographic exhibition at the Olde Cheese Factory at Berwick in Victoria.

This homestead had a very interesting group of chineys and rolling verandahs that were a little twisted as well as a very quaint old rustic “Thunderbox” dunny out the back of the house that was wedged under some conifers.

The trees were slowly pushing the thunderbox over as the trees grew and we have revisited the site over the years to simply document the changes to the scene.

This visit the thunderbox had fallen over under the strain of the trees with just the pitched roof remaining. At the house, the chimneys have been toppled over, the verandahs have collapsed and it is much worse for wear.

it’s getting better just a tad concerned about the sky

  • Jennifer Craker replied

Yeah, I know, there was alot of movement on the day. Couldn’t fix it or make it better but that’s what playing is all about… Maybe one day

I like the effect in the sky. It gives a dynamic element that counters the static element of the shack.

No need to fix, in my humble opinion.

I wonder what it would look like in a high-contrast Black & White?

  • Jennifer Craker replied

Well, we might have to see if I can find some time. Watch this space
