elemental fire

Elemental Fire. My offering in celebration of the Summer Solstice.

Ancient Saxons and Celts celebrated Midsummer with huge bonfires that celebrated the power of the sun over darkness. In modern times, it is believed that the power of the sun is at its most potent. It is a day of recognizing one’s inner power and brightness.

This piece of art, ‘Elemental Fire’ is how I perceived this ‘inner power’ and how it might look.

The four alchemical elements are Fire, Earth, Air and Water. There are logical dynamics of pairs contained these four: Fire & Water, Earth & Air

Fire
Water
Earth
Air

I love this, but if I bought a print and put it up, in an unguarded moment I’d see it and scare myself to death thinking the place was on fire! (Yes, I’ve got a bit of phobia there. In spite of that, this is beautiful.)

When I watch fire, to me, its behavior can be so much like water….both to me are very sensual elements.

This picture speaks of power and strength with the dark black background and fire-y colors. It seems to glow. I love it.

Thank you filfil. I liked the original photo, but after fooling around with it in GIMP, well, I came across something I couldn’t resist sharing.

I had a lot of fun working on this – well actually, I was electradoodling. Not sure thats a word. I think I just made it up…but that is what I was doing. Playing with GIMP, doodling on some old photos of mine. Funny how things turn out when you least except them to.

Thank you Bex….this and the other one I did were so much fun to create. I can’t wait until I do the next two…as soon as I figure out which colors to use to represent earth and air.

This was a fun piece to create. Something about allowing myself to flow, literally and creatively.
