This photo of a young male Cheetah was taken just after he and his mother and sister had made an Impala kill in Zuka Private Game Reserve (South Africa).
In the 1900s there was thought to be over 100,000 Cheetahs that spanned across four different continents. Today, the rapid destruction of their natural habitats, their persecution by local farmers as a perceived threat to livestock, and the continued poaching for their pelts, now threatens the survival of this maginificent species. With less than 10,000 mature breeding individuals estimated to be left in the wild, Cheetahs are now “facing a high risk of extinction” (IUCN threatened species list).
So who is really the cold-blooded killer in this story?
South Africa is also currently waging a war against the illegal poaching of rhino’s for their protein horns. The LEGEND RHINO ORPHANAGE is South Africa’s first not-for-profit specialist centre, dedicated to the care of baby rhino’s orphaned by poaching. Please help support this rhino orphanage and make a contribution today, in order to ensure a rhino’s tomorrow.

Beautiful creature, Jen. He is a stark reminder of our responsible actions and conservation efforts to protect defenseless creatures and their habitat. The Cheeta, among all threatened and critically endangered species, ought to survive.
