This old oaktree must have lived up to 200 years before he turned into a mysterious landmark of a glorious past. Unfortunately a heavy storm in January 2007 caused him to fall down. So only memories remain whispering in the winds. Taken near Maartensdijk in the Netherlands.

a lovely tribute to this tree ~ this is a stunning capture ~ the silhouette against the misty sun speaks so softly ~ I believe this would be a terrific add to the groups “Stillness Speaks” and “Photo-Zen” bravo on this!
Many thanks, also for the lovely suggestion. To my great pleasure both groups accepted the shot.
This picture is prove to how much character a tree can have! Seeing this, I absolutely understand, why the nordics see the Oak as a holy tree! If I could, I would bow to that tree now… Thank you for this wonderful capture!

Such a shame now that it has gone. But we still have your great picture …
It looks really sad, Oaks are such majestic trees, such a pity-but a superb shot!
A Ghost tree, making you remember it as it was, Great shot, very atmospheric capture
