Some recent features on both my galleries

Posted 5 months ago

While I generally try to thank the hosts individually of the various groups that have featured shots of mine, I find it a nice idea at the beginning of this year to present you with an overview of some recent features both on this gallery and on my lightthinker one. It is at the same time a good opportunity to thank all hosts once again for their delightful support of my work on both galleries. T…

Many, many, though very late thanks

Posted 9 months ago

Many, many thanks for all your wonderfully encouraging reactions to my operation news of July. I once again appreciated it very much that so many of you showed so much caring and empathy. Please forgive me for not reacting any earlier, but though I have had a reasonable recovery and no serious problems in the meantime, but I have also had very little energy. So I just did not manage to get into t…

The next operation

Posted 11 months ago

Two days ago the tumor in my left kidney was targeted by a procedure they call Radio Frequency Ablation. This way of treatment is much less invasive than even a so-called non-invasive operation as I had in January for the tumor in the right kidney.

The treatment was done under anethetic, but I only had to stay one day and night at the Leiden University Hospital as everything went according to pla…

My new Dutch internet exhibition

Posted over 1 year ago

To my great pleasure and pride once again NiederlandeNet, the website of the Institute of Dutch Studies at the German university of Münster (the “Zentrum für Niederlande-Studien”), has accepted a collection of 50 of my pictures for their website. This year again they will show one picture each week as the “picture of the week”. I am all the more grateful for this choice, as it is now already for …

Three years on Redbubble

Posted over 1 year ago

Dear friends and watchers,

These three years of bubbling here on RB have been such a great experience that the anniversary should certainly not be passed unmentioned. These years have been most fruitful and rewarding. Due to the wonderful chance of exchanging our art RB has become a daily highlight (I can tell you I do miss it every day here at the hospital where I still am).

My photographic work…

Hospital and home page

Posted over 1 year ago

Hi dear friends,
I am still staying at the local hospital at Hilversum, being cared for very well. Unfortunately the HAP (hospital aquired pneumonia) is a tricky contender. So I may have to stay here still for some more time. Will I be home next weekend? Or will I have to stay still another week? I just do not know. A lot of patience is needed at the moment. The forests will have to do without me …

Message from the hospital

Posted over 1 year ago

Hi,

My uncle Jürgen asked me to send you the following message. The tumor in his right kidney was taken out successfully two weeks ago. Unfortunately there were some complications, and he had to go back to hospital a week ago. He could have been home by now, but an additional pneumonia still keeps him there. Probably he will have to stay until early next week.

Not having any internet connections,…

Once again I am very deeply moved by the heartiness of all your reactions, so full of encouragement and empathy. They have once again been a wonderful sign of solidarity and support. So let me start by expressing my huge gratitude towards…

New tumors

Posted over 1 year ago

Dear friends and watchers,

Alas a new chapter has been added to my health struggle of the past period. Indeed a new big health challenge lies in front of me. This time it is cancer.

So after the heart treatment of last autumn and the operation in May at Kiel of the benign tumor in my spinal column, I am in for more hospital care. This time it is the kidneys. I knew since May that there were tumo…
