Waterfall Photography Settings
This is how I shot – Washout
The lighting was not very good the shot was in a wooded area around 10am in the morning.
Taken at The Brandywine Falls in Northfield Ohio
My Camera is the Canon Digital Rebel XTI 400D and I used a Sigma Telephoto 28-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro Autofocus Lens
Shot was taken on my tripod
Using a wireless remote
Used the Shutter Priority Setting
TV = 2 sec
AV = 36
ISO 100
Focal Length 115 mm
Used the Mirror Lockup setting
Used the Noise Reduction setting
Processing was adjusted the shadows and highlights by darkening the highlights and lightening the shadows
Also did some minimal saturation to the entire photo
I will admit I wish I could go back in time because it is also great to be using a Neutral Density Filter….. I have just began using them and it makes a huge different on long exposures. This particular shot worked well cause it was very cloudy and dark

Besides TV mode, I have used manual mode and aperture mode to shoot my waterfalls once in awhile, Jeff with a CP or ND filter too.

Thank you for posting this. I have a small waterfall in a dark location and have been trying to figure out how to capture it with such low light.
