I Now Own My First SLR
Well I finally have done what I have been wanting to do for a long time. I purchased a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTI 10.1 MP. I have been wanting a full Digital SLR camera for a very long time. It is my very first one. I currently own the Canon Powershot S3 but it was limiting me way to much.
I also purchased a killer lens.
The Sigma Zoom Telephoto 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro Autofocus Lens

So hopefully soon I will be uploading some new work. Sorry to say I have not bought the IR filter yet.
Also on Friday I am beginning my first class as a member of
The Cleveland Photographic Society
Its a class that meets every week for learning and competitions.
Also do field trips. I would like to thank everyone on this site for inspiring me to get more involved with Photography.

Way to go Jeff. Same as mine (well mines the 400d but same difference). Like the lens too. I must invest in a longer lens than the 55-200 i’ve got.
Anyway congrats on your new toy and happy shooting. Hope to see some new stuff soon.

Torfinn Johann...

Lindsay Knowles
Congrats Jeff.I remember the first time I got an SLR and thought wow this is good. Then the digi age started happening and I had a Canon point and shoot and thought wow this is cool and then the day came and I brought a digi slr and I thought it was the best.I was on top of the world.(so I thought)
Its a whole new world for you now Jeff.Keep the dial off auto and learn to shoot without it .The results will be so much better.
I am sooooo looking forward to the results from the new cam.Your images to date have been awesome Jeff. Can they get any better?Time will tell.
imageworld
well done, don’t bother with auto mode much more fun to be had using all the other modes, looks like a good’un
Catalin Soare
Good luck my friend, it is a very good camera. Always keep it in a bag and use a neutral UV filter to protect your lenses. Dust and condensate are the worst enemies of a DSLR!
Have fun and many, many more beautiful works!!!!
Jeff Burns
WOW Thank you everyone for the support and comments. I really appreciate it my Friends
Deborah Parkin
i am so excited for you Jeff – it’s funny how you just fall in love all over again – i had the 300d which i love (have different one now) and have to say my favourite lens was the 50mm prime lens (great for portraits) – has a wide aperture – f1.8 i think and as lenses go it was cheap – it cost me £50 from Amazon and probably even cheaper in US – anyway, getting carried away – you just spend a fortune on a new camera – but you never know what Santa might bring LOL – Have loads of fun. Debxx
Jeff Burns
Thank you very much Deborah. I appreciate it. I may just look into that lens.
I would love to be able to take portrait shots like you do.
Michael Bermi...
Jeff, I have the exact same camera (400D) and Sigma lens!!! Great Minds…Great Minds…
Christina Martin

Kim Roper
Freedom and creativity unleashed! Enjoy the endless opportunities with your new camera :-D
Jeff Burns
Thank you very Much Kim!!
Matt Dawdy
man, I am very jealous. Trying to decide which one to get myself.
Robin Fortin IPA
Wow, Congrats on the upgrade and I also must tell you …. How bizarre… I as well used to use the canon powershot (which I still adore btw) then upgraded to the same eos rebel and exact same telephoto/macro lens. Small world??? I hope you enjoy your class and field trips etc.
~Robin
Stephen Mitchell
Great camera choice. My wife and I have one each, bought early in 2007.
HINT:
Purchase UV-Filters for all your lens’s. Thus, if you drop them, the filter breaks rather than the glass within the lens.
SnapHappy
congrats Jeff!!
