A friend gave me one of these bromeliads for my birthday. The flower looked just like that! You’ve done a superb job of presenting this gorgeous blossom and the decision to set it against black was a smart one. Works splendidly. You might want to add the tag BROMELIAD for search purposes.

Jeff, I just went back to your pf and as I thought, with few exceptions, you don’t post that many flower pictures… in fact, you’ll hate me for this but I can’t shake the image of skeletons in rubber rings that springs to mind whenever I see your name crop up. So you can imagine how blown away I was to see your name next to one of the most stunning and powerful flower pictures I’ve ever seen. I’m trying to figure out what makes this so dynamic… maybe the way the light half reflects and half shines through the petals, and it definitely does leap out at me. Doborah’s right—it’s confrontational. I’m half expecting it to open its mouth and bite me in the nose! It’s also amazing, beautiful, perfectly framed, awesomely well focused. Jeff, shouldn’t you maybe be doing flowers more often?
