JayteesArt

Kington, UNITED KINGDOM

I have been painting, on and off, since childhood – but not with any regularity until moving to Herefordshire in 2002 since when I have had both a solo and joint exhibition of my work.

I love painting in watercolour, and have tried many times over the years to adopt a looser, brighter, more transparent style …. but approaching ( or some would say IN!) my dotage, am at last allowing myself to ‘do what comes naturally’

I now do more ‘blending’ and ‘glazing’ and use fewer washes than do most other watercolourists, I also ‘lift’, ‘scrub’, ‘wipe’ and am no longer afraid to use white where it will achieve the result I am after. This results in my work often being mistaken for pastels!

I always prefer to use my own photographs for my paintings – though when I paint portraits on commission am usually obliged to use others ‘snaps’ or even photocopies. I enjoy tackling unusual subjects, or ordinary subjects from unusual angles. Macros flowers seem to suit my style. At the moment I am ‘into’ painting people – relaxing rather than working – as a diversion from community activities.

I look forward to the time I can retire from retirement and devote more time to developing my Art

I am delighted to have had a number of my paintings featured since adding them to RedBubble Groups

A greater range of my work can be seen at www.JayteesArt.com
