    You gave him the file…
Did you get a copyright agreement with it?
If not the file may still be your intellectual property and you should receive royalties from it.
I am just thinking that garbage TV can lead to multi-millionaire-ism, and wouldn’t you be kicking yourself if THIS photo was worth $10K in a few years?
My advice, never relinquish your intellectual rights.

But, having said all that, congrats on the sale!

HOPE YOU ARE NOT YELLING AT MEEEEeeeee…. :-)

Yes, any work which you release (publish etc.) is automatically your intellectual property – copyright belongs to you, until you relinquish it through a contract of sale or donation.
Once you give away the copyright, the new owner can do anything they wish with the piece of work.

Anything on RB belongs to you and no one has the right to appropriate your work or gain from it.

Thing get bit blurry if you sell a copy of your work, then the actual copy belongs to the purchaser and they can on-sell it with a profit, but can’t make and sell copies of the work they bought.

It gets more complex with music…

In your situation if you have kept the original file and did not give away (verbally or on paper/email) the copyright, you retain all intellectual rights to the image.
No person’s likeness can be copyrighted so any captured likeness is the property of the artist.

Keep an eye on TV, magazines, web for your image and demand payment if it ever appears. Including Myspace, Facbook etc. if the image pops up in relation to any commercial activity: “Watch TV to see me, and here is my pic” would be considered a commercial activity – your copyright kicks in.

Good luck, and the drinks are on you once you make the first 10K.

There are always new “stars” on neighbours, so keep your eyes peeled.
As far as I am concerned (and BTW, I am not your legal representative) you still own the copyright to that image, so you never know, he may become another kylie, and you are set!
