Collaborative Connection
Honors – SoJie 12
August 2011

Day 4 of my “Jay’s World Project”: it is my honour to share this image of my beautiful daughter as I see her every morning. What a privilege that is…like waking up next to an angel…

…and yes, I asked for permission to post this, and permission was graciously granted :-)

In June 2011 some friends and I embarked upon a year-long assignment to take and upload one shot a day, every day, to facebook. You can view my 365 Day Portfolio as it evolves on the photography pages of my website at www.jaytaylor.co.uk

EDIT: This image is being translated into a painting by the fabulously talented Rhinovangoh as part of Sojie 12 in the Solo Exhibition Group Now, how amazing is THAT??!!

An expressionistic, exploratory artist, I create without restraint or intent. I am a passionate advocate of natural learning, and this organic approach informs all of my work, giving my creations their vibrancy and spontaneity. An abiding love of nature keeps me going when my rather warped sense of humour fails. Above all, I reject the dysfunction and pain our culture perpetuates. More of the same is of no interest to me. I say “YES” to that which is life-serving: let a new paradigm emerge!

Sweet and beautiful. She looks like an angel.

  • Thank you, Frannie :o) If I could work digital magic like you can, I’d turn that duvet into wings ;o) x Jay

I just love everything about this image Jay :)

(the way the light falls at the top and right lower end makes her appear so dream like and blends colour tones so beautifully .. it could not get better to express the inexpressible )

  • Thank you for this lovely comment, annamora – you have noticed everything that I hoped to achieve with this image when I sat down to try and bring it to life in the digital realm…so I am delighted :o)

Charming! Such a peaceful composition with great capture of light! She is indeed beautiful and angelic! (but they always are when they are sleeping!) :-D

  • Thank you, Joanne. I am so delighted with this shot! (and when she’s awake, she is still beautiful and angelic…but significantly more chatty ;o) hehehe)

Glorious! Nothing more peaceful than the sleep of a child. Great capture! I want to paint this! :-)

  • Hi Jerry :o) I love this image, and it would be fantastic to see it as a painting – especially in your wonderful, unique style: I will be waiting with great fascination to see the results – as will my ‘beautiful dreamer’ ;o) We are both very flattered and enthusiastic! Thank you for offering! Jay xx

Well, she dreams, I can’t sleep. I spent 48 hours non stop(more or less) variously pondering potential and scribbling steps and dallying over details. The progress is slow, but I am giving it more attention than I would a normal work (even cleaning the canvas of my usual brush hairs and paint scrabbles) so it should be great. The background might be different than I imagined but I am slow footed about moving in that direction. The possibilities are great/endless. Thanks again Jay!!!! :-)

  • Jerry, you sound like a man possessed (by his own creativity!) … I can’t wait to see your next WIP, and I am touched that you’re being so attentive and meticulous with my daughter’s portrait: sending big hugs to you, and still cheering you on from afar :o) xx Jay and ‘Grace’

I guess I did it again; on my second day again. Sleep? we don’t need no stinkin sleep! LOL! I am in real Rhino painting mode! Woohoo! I have been poring through art books for ideas. I am beginning to get the background started. I just wish I was faster and could see better. I should put up another WIP this afternoon or tonight. Back to the easel…..Cheers, J

  • LOL! Go, Jerry :o) ! looking forward to seeing your progress – if you don’t collapse in a tired-out heap before managing to photograph a WIP ;o)
