An expressionistic, exploratory artist, I create without restraint or intent. I am a passionate advocate of natural learning, and this organic approach informs all of my work, giving my creations their vibrancy and spontaneity. An abiding love of nature keeps me going when my rather warped sense of humour fails. Above all, I reject the dysfunction and pain our culture perpetuates. More of the same is of no interest to me. This may sound strange but this connects for me with the tragic tsunami in Japan…it has the inky blackness and the power of the wave.
That doesn’t sound strange to me, since just about EVERYTHING puts me in mind of the events in Japan at the moment…and I can certainly see where you’re coming from.
I never consciously direct my paintings, but this one spoke to me of change and upheaval and the various challenges we must rise up and meet as a species – all of which are foremost in my consciousness. Big things ahead, and happening right now…Jay
