An experimental piece and a first foray into layering acrylics with pastels (and mixing pastel dust with acrylic mediums). As part of this spontaneous process I used included several found objects which my 9 year old daughter brought to me as I was painting: I do like to keep things ‘alive’!

The title is really a little joke which is probably amusing only to me – as a confirmed ‘outsider’, I may not be capable of “being square”, but I can BE, and incorporate squares into my work…

An expressionistic, exploratory artist, I create without restraint or intent. I am a passionate advocate of natural learning, and this organic approach informs all of my work, giving my creations their vibrancy and spontaneity. An abiding love of nature keeps me going when my rather warped sense of humour fails. Above all, I reject the dysfunction and pain our culture perpetuates. More of the same is of no interest to me. I say “YES” to that which is life-serving: let a new paradigm emerge!
