Artist's Description

This is the tree beneath which we buried my Mother’s ashes, in Derbyshire, England, UK. It is a seriously huge old beech, with very unusual shapes, twists and turns, located in a very magical place which she loved to visit during her time in Derbyshire…

As a strident atheist, my Mum always insisted that she wanted her body to be thrown in the dustbin when she died! Hopefully this place isn’t too offensive as a substitute: I think we’d have been arrested if we’d honoured her wishes! (We did put the plastic ashes canister in the recycling bin, Mum…!)
