Masquerade

Jay Taylor

Derbyshire, United Kingdom

Artist's Description

How many layers, how many masks…?
This piece took weeks to evolve: layers and textures and colours and forms emerging over numerous sessions of spontaneous creation – rather like the masks that humans create in order to take part in this great masquerade so often referred to as ‘life’.
But Life is beyond, behind and endlessly animating the masks, and the masquerade, and everything else which exists. There is life beyond the masquerade! The World of Man is built upon the earth, it is not the Earth itself.
How could I ever have forgotten?

I have awakened once more…
