One Girl and her Hamster by Jay Taylor

“What’s your hamster’s name?”
“Try and guess…”
“YES!! That’s AMAZING…! Mama, someone just guessed Hammy’s name again!”

Hammy died (in my hand) on 28th August 2010. Such a short life, but I appreciate everything we learned from her, and celebrate the delightful being that she was.

I very reluctantly bought Hammy for my daughter, having already learned many years ago that I do not enjoy keeping animals prisoner in cages. I trust that my daughter has now learned this lesson, too, and that in our little corner of the world, at least, the captivity has come to an end…

You are free now, Princess Hammydala Houdini. I thank you for your patience, your sweet nature, and your sacrifice…

An expressionistic, exploratory artist, I create without restraint or intent. I am a passionate advocate of natural learning, and this organic approach informs all of my work, giving my creations their vibrancy and spontaneity. An abiding love of nature keeps me going when my rather warped sense of humour fails. Above all, I reject the dysfunction and pain our culture perpetuates. More of the same is of no interest to me. I say “YES” to that which is life-serving: let a new paradigm emerge!

A Beautiful Girl and her Hamster. Reminds me of an old Swedish proverb*
