Distracted

Back at the fox hole this morning. Cloudy skies made for some nice saturated color without the fear of burning out white fur and other highlights. Fortunately the foxes were active and interacting well with each other.

This is a female fox (vixen) that’s new to me. She has a significant car across the left side of her muzzle and a big white patch on the right side of her muzzle (you can’t obviously see it in this image). The scar is most likely from an encounter with one of the coyotes that lives in this area. Judging how big the scar is, it must have been a heck of a fight and she was lucky to have escaped.

I was off to the side of a trail as she came trotting down towards me. She’s looking right at me in a few frames, but something caught her attention and she’s checking it out while she still trots down the trail.
