STOCK-Lens Hood
Sure, stick your nose right in my lens hood.
This little vixen obviously feels comfortable enough with me that she approaches me pretty closely. So closely I was afraid I’d have a nose print on my front element. This is a full frame shot, no cropping.

great shot, crazy and almost sad to see it so used to humans, not usually a great sign, all to say, impressive details, great shot
Jay Ryser replied
It’s almost inevitable with people and wildlife living so close together in a city park that the animals lose some of their fear of humans. If it’s any consolation, they avoid most people, but I’ve spent enough time with them they tend to not perceive me as a threat most of the time.
Kasey Cline
SO you gonna tell me where to go and how early???
tserio
She has adoped you! Great shot!!! I think she wants you to pet her!
Jay Ryser replied
She’d never get THAT close to me,
Photomojo
Wow Jay, How amazing to look at this beautiful creature so close eye to eye! We have many of these little guys making little barking sounds all night. Behind the house is a wetlands where they hang out. Haven’t got a shot yet but one day!
NATURELENS
Great close-up. Lovely experience to have gotten so close :-)
Sandy Stewart
Wow,....now that is certainly a close up!!! What a thrill that must have been! The thought of her being comfortable at such close proximity to humans, has me a little worried that her lack of fear could end up being her demise.
Jay Ryser replied
It’s a park – while they’re less afraid of humans than those in wilderness areas, she (and the rest of them) doesn’t make a habit of approaching everyone. You have to work on developing their trust.
Diane Schuster
What a cool experience and wonderful shot!

Wow tht is good and I am impressed that the Fox’es have accepted you. You must spend a lot of time that they are familiar with your scent.
Jay Ryser replied
The alpha male accepts me in that he doesn’t mind passing me on the trail or using me as shade on bright mornings, and if my tripod is blocking the trail he’ll wait for me to move it so he can pass. This female is very tolerant of me and doesn’t seem to mind me taking pictures and moving outside the radius of her comfort zone. The rest of the foxes (fewer now since the coyotes moved in next door) have varying degrees of tolerance for me, from a wider radius of comfort to just hiding in the brush or running quickly past me until I move on.

Jay Ryser replied
No need for jealousy – I took another Bubbler to my favorite fox location this morning.

Oh lucky person! Sadly, it would be somewhat more than a day trip for me to join you … will just have to convince the foxes in my vicinity that I’m carrying a camera rather than a gun
Jay Ryser replied
They’re probably more than a little sensitive about their status there . . .
Jason Connolly
O, so stunning…

skyhorse
Yes, sadly we have an active hunt club in the vicinity (thankfully they don’t access the land where my foxy friends are, as it is a horse stud & their stallions live outdoors, so no hunter fences in/out). However, we do get rabbit hunters occassionally & they are not above taking the foxes as well :-(
Robyn Carter
Fabulous image – glad she trusts you :) evenutally you will get a wet nose on your lens :)
Jay Ryser replied
The other week I caught the alpha male going through my camera bag that was laying a few feet behind me as I was setting up – he was either curious or looking for something to eat. I’m just glad he didn’t “mark” it . . .
Robyn Carter
LOL – My cats have alrady marked my camera bag! ! Next time you better take offereings!
