I’m primarily a nature photographer, usually wildlife, and I have lots of access to wildlife in Colorado. My main goal is to capture some of the individual personality of each of the animals I photograph – to document not just a fox, for instance, but to show something of that specific fox, something unique about that individual animal. Many of the species I photograph are threatened by climate change – pikas and marmots in particular – and may not be around much longer. All animals are wild and photographed in their natural environment unless otherwise specified.
This is a return to photography for me. I still have my old Canon T70 and some manual focus lenses, but as a poor undergraduate and then graduate student, the cost of film and processing was just too much, and photography took a backseat to other interests. Digital imaging is a welcome change.
I’m using Sony Alphas – a700 and a580, and most commonly shoot with either a:
Sony 70-400
Sigma 300mm f/2.8
Sigma 24-70 f/2.8
Sigma 17-35 f/2.8-4
Tamron 180mm f/3.5 Macro
Sony 50mm f/1.4
All gear carried in LowePro camera bags
All images shot in RAW and processed in Adobe Lightroom and Nik software.
All wildlife photos represent wild animals in their natural habitat unless specified otherwise in the description.
