I love maggies – their morning call is so joyous! You’ve done a marvellous job with the post processing – the hint of the Aussie bush in the background and those wonderful reflections really add an extra dimension to the shot. Beautiful work, Jan!

  • Isn’t that the best sound in the world, Mieke? We have a couple every year who sit on our garage roof and warble their hearts out. Absolutely nothing else like it. Thanks x

Wow, Jan, this is great. You can see the strength and steely-eyed resolve of the maggie in his posture. Those beaks always worry me when I see one of my cats watching one out in the backyard. Thankfully, the birds don’t come near enough to be a threat! Your muted rural background really sets this off so well; I love the shadows. Beautifully captured and post processed.

  • Jan – he was playing with me! Would sit and wait until I got to a certain distance and then move a little way off. Patience paid off I hope. Thank you.

Gorgeous capture and treatment. You have prettier magpies than we do. :o)

  • And you should hear their song (or warble) – it’s pure magic. Thank you Bunny.
