Rembrandt's Light

One quiet afternoon, I set about discovering all of the fine details in the beautiful Hotel Estherea. The attention to décor and placement of their objects and art, I soon discovered, was put together with a photographer’s keen eye, making the very best of the light. Over in one corner I discovered this five-feet-high, hand-hammered brass vase reflecting the window’s light. This window looks out upon the Canal. The gold and deep red brocade heavy curtains warmed the Light. I have uploaded this with no digital manipulation (with the exception of sizing and reducing noise). I have perhaps captured Rembrandt’s Light. (Amsterdam in May, 2009).
A magical place indeed.

Whoa, now if we can only get you into digital enhancement (forget that dreadful “manipulating word”) then … then … will you reeeeely rock. OTH, if you can find this out there in the wild, wuddahell… who needs an enhancer-machine, eh?

I have just sat here with my mouth open until I remembered my mother used to push my chin up and tell me I would catch flies like that
this was a little harder to correct as my jaw had dropped a LOOONG way
I am stunned by this it is simply beautiful

Nonpareil (without equal), Darling! Only your eye would see this .. I walked past this several times and didn’t even notice. Natural light from an overcast Amsterdam sky, coming through a window and the imperfections of a hand-hammered brass vase as your canvas. Extraordinary!
