Well, we’re up and running. Mock the Flock that is. An arts mag for those amongst us in this part of rural England who do not agree that a year in the life of one farmer and his tractor holds special appeal (and believe you me, many do around here – the DVD is a sell out!!!)

So with that in mind, we decided to start our own contemporary arts mag – mocking the flock if you know what I mean (and I’m sure you do). Amazing the number of artists , writers and musicians in this area who feel the same. The first edition is out now, as is the website (www.mocktheflock.co.uk) and who knows what will come of it. We would like it to be a springboard for arty events, exhibitions and even the building of a new art centre around here – which would be terrific.

I’m sure many other rural communities are the same, but when you think that Country Life (that bastion of rural conservative living!) put Louth as the fourth most desirable place to live in the country (really? – well, apparently its so), we should have something for everyone – including all of those under 65 – and there are certainly a lot of those.

Any of you reading this ramble who live in the vicinity – buy it and contribute to it. The rest of you – I’d still like to know what you think and any further suggestions.

I am now off on my hols with the kiddie-winks . T wo weeks in the sun to restore my nerves with cheap plonk and paella.
