Dreaming of Art

Do you ever find yourself in dreams, creating art? Last night, and many nights, I find myself painting in dreams. The format is quite different than one might expect from a work of mine, accidental coloring, abstaction. Last night I watched the droplet of watercolor run down the length of the canvas, and I watched as the colored droplets left the canvas and fell to the floor and I didn’t care what a mess it was creating.

Humm, sounds like some sort of freedom dream. Maybe you should give it a try! Great dream.

I agree with nancy, it seems your free will is trying to escape from the usual thought patterns you hold about your work, and it is saying be more fluid, dont be too rigid, just let yourself go creatively and see what happens. I love your work as you know.Looking forward to seeing how this works out for you. Love t

very interesting dream you had. I agree with the above. I also dream of painting and sculpting, quite a bit actually. I think a lot of great art comes from the subconscious. I just finished reading Duma Key, by Stephen King, which has as the protagonist an artist who does a lot of surreal things, and it’s a great read, very painterly book. anyways, i’d take a cue from the dream and give it a try. You never know what you might learn about the craft, or yourself.

Thanks for the tip on the book. I think I shall have a read for myself! I think experimenting in art is what we’re intended to do, so thank you for the reminder.

Seems we’re funny creatures, one part bound in the worship of habit, and the other part trying to break free from it.

We are funny creatures all right Jay….each one individually and wonderfully made. I agree with the others…you have some breaking out to do!
