WOW just soooooooooooo beautiful – thanks for sharing this wonderful area !!!

  • Jeff Catford replied

    Heabar, yes, it is beautiful.

But wait, there’s more … :-) ...What can’t be seen here is the bird life, especially the Zebra Finches, and Bee Eaters… We will certainly be returning.

Jeff i can only imagine the bird life up there :) but please tell me where is the nearest town to Currawinya national park i’d love know where it is :)

  • Jeff Catford replied

    Heabar,

Currawinya NP pretty well surrounds the Qld/NSW border town of Hungerford – pop. ~14 and famous for the Royal Mail Hotel which is a top spot for a beer.

Hungerford is ~217km NW of Bourke, or you can go via Wilcannia, White Cliffs and Wanaaring. From the Qld side, Hungerford is 122km S of Eulo or 188km from Cunnamulla… So it’s pretty well a long way from anywhere really and all via dirt road except for about 200m of black top past the pub.. :-)

But – the drive is well worth every pothole and corrugation to get there.

Check out the Currawinya NP website
