Exhaust Fan

Exhaust Fan

Scanned from a print. The building is a machine shop in an industrial area near downtown Columbia, South Carolina. I took this very low-angle, middle-of-the-night shot by distant mercury vapor street lights. They create the eerie green cast on the metal siding, which I’ve left uncorrected. The interior of the building is lit by sodium vapor lamps, causing the contrasting reddish glow from inside. The fan is moving slowly during the long exposure. Pentax 6×7, color negative film, available light.
