New Unrestricted Stock
This is regards to my Deviant Art account where I post my own stock for others to use. I hope that you enjoy the new range and find it useful. I would love to hear your thoughts on this:
I have always looked sideways at people who went out of their way to do something for you and wondered “Whats the catch?”.
It is in this day and age where the saying “No one dose anything, unless they are getting something out of it” seems more true than anything, and I wondered when I had become so jaded. When had I started looking at gifts like they had hidden rows of teeth waiting to take a chunk out of me?
I am starting to think that an artist community should be one of mutual support, learning and sharing. So why was I asking people who were using my stock to curb their artistic licences to create by my need for recognition? I guess it goes back to the idea that, I got off my backside and spent time taking photographs so I should get something out of it.
Now I am sure that there are going to be a lot of people who are going to read this and think that I am taking a stab at them, Im not. This is just a personal revelation on what I believe concerning my own stock. I still belive that as an artist you have the right to ask for recognition for the time and effort that you have taken in creating your stock, I dont dispute that right. I respect your rights and follow your guidelines, respecting you and thanking you for your stock. For it is with your help that I have been able to create the artworks that I have.
But I was thinking to myself “If someone uses my stock and creates a completely new artwork from my stock, is it my right to tell them that they can or cant create a print or add them to their other artist accounts, when the resulting artwork is from their own imagination?”
It just makes it hard for them to be able to follow their creative voices when they are following about eight sets of different rules.
So I have gone though my gallery and made a majority of it UNRESTRICTED STOCK, so that it is easier for all of you out there who would like to create and cant afford ot purchase stock. So use it as you will, post it where you want, sell it as a print without my permission…Because the finished artwork is the result of your own ideas, and I do not claim any rights over them.
WHAT IS UNRESTRICTED STOCK?
Unrestricted stock can be used for both personal and commercial projects, but it cannot be redistributed as stock. You are not required to obtain permission prior to using the stock off site or in DA prints. The only requirements are that the stock provider be notified and credited.
New Folder
The only rules that apply are to my MODEL STOCK (as with any model stock that is out there) and because they are of people you do need to follow the rules:
1. FOR DEVIANTART USE ONLY. ASK PERMISSION BEFORE POSTING ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE NET!!! THE MODEL HAS THE RIGHT TO REFUSE YOUR REQUEST IF SHE/HE BELIEVES THAT THE SITE IS INAPROPRIATE OR THE ARTWORK IS UNACCEPTABLE.
2. NO RACIAL, HATE OR PRONOGRAPHIC WORKS OF ART ARE TO BE CREATED FROM THESE SHOTS. IT CAN BE DAMAGING TO THE MODELS REPUTATION AND LEAD TO LOSS OF A JOB OR LAW SUIT.
3. YOU NEED TO ASK PERMISSION BEFORE CREATING A PRINT. YOU ARE INITIALLY ASKING PERMISSION TO SELL THE PERSONS BODY/IMAGE.
4. YOU MUST CREDIT AND LINK THE ARTWORK BACK TO THIS WEBACCOUNT ON DEVIANTART, AND SEND A LINK VIA NOTE TO ME SO THAT I CAN VIEW THE ARTWORK AND SEE IF IT IS ACCEPTABLE FOR PUBLICATION.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE FOLLOWED UP BY SERVIER CONSIQUENCES – LIKE ME SUEING YOU FOR DEFFIMATION!!
If you are unsure of an image in my Gallery send me a note and ask.
I do not require you to do this, but it would be nice if you took the time to fave the stock images that you use in your artworks as a thank you.

So, are you saying that we are invited to use your stock that’s on deviant art, but we still have to note you in a request if we are to use it for Red Bubble (Rule #1)?
Thanks in advance for clarification.
Adara Rosalie replied
Yes you are more than welcome to use the unrestricted stock. You dont have to let me know if you have used it, although it would be lovely to see what you have been able to create with it, all you have to do it credit me in your description. You are free to create merchandise with the resulting artworks that have use my stock. There is no need to notify me or ask for permission.
The only stock that has rules to follow are the model stock (the rules are as above) because models are in essence using their own bodies so will need to have permission to be able to sell or post on certian websites.
My unrestricted stock is in my gallery in a folder called UNRESTRICTED STOCK. You are more than welcome to use it.
One thing with stock is that it must be used in a manipulation, it is not permitted to take an image and then distribute it as your own stock or use it as is. It has to be used in conjunction with other images or text.

I create art from photo-manipulations, anywhere from a low of 3 to a high of about 30 images. And I always link back to stock providers in my descriptions, out of respect for their rules. It’s just a hassle (although I do it) to “request to use on RB” each time, when it can be used on DA. I’ve never been denied the request; but I only wish the rules would say “Deviant Art or Red Bubble”. :D
Thanks. I understood everything else, as it’s very standard.
I’ll certainly take a look at your stock. And ask permission to post my art (using it) on RB.

I know where you are coming from with all the rules that are applied to a various amount of stock. There is no need to ask about RB, go right ahead! I am hoping that I can be able to encourage artistic creativity and not constrict it. Would love to see what you can come up with. Best wishes and happy creating!

Super, Adara, thank you very much. Do take a look at my artwork. A quick peek at a few and the description area will show you how I work. And in my group, “Solo Exhibition”, I also require that digital artists “list and link to” their stock providers.

You have a wonderful group! It is wonderful that you are able to do so much for the artist community by helping them to display their best works, it allows for much growth and expansion! It is great that you are strict on having details and listings of used stock, it helps put a stop to plagerism and stealing, a habbit that I am wholely against.
Your gallery is exquitite, you show a wide and diverse range of talent! I loved your “My Hero” and “Precious” just to name a few. Thank you so much for sharing them with me, I really appreciate it. A true pleasure.

That’s great Adara, always loved your work since I first saw the Grim Reaper one in my group and Featured it, just had a quick look at your deviant.art, thanks! :O)

Awe, thank you Vanessa, it is a true pleasure to know that you enjoyed the grim reaper so much! :) It was my pleasure, I hope that the stock is useful, I hope to be able to make some time to take some more shots to add to the file.
