Artist's Description

During the winter of 2008-2009 we were blessed to see many Northern Owls as they had migrated from the north due to a shortage in the natural rodent food source. This is a natural cycle that takes about 4-7 years. So far this year there have none been seen. The Northern Hawk Owl (Surnia ulula) is given it’s name because of the hawk-like look to it’s face which does not have the usual facial disc that most owls have.
