The deceptively cute Gray Jay is one of the most intrepid birds in North America, living in northern forests year-round and rearing chicks in the dark of winter. Highly curious and always on the lookout for food, Gray Jays eat just about anything, from berries to small animals. They may even land on your hand to grab a raisin or peanut. During summer they hoard food in trees to sustain themselves through bleak winters.

Brilliant Whiskey Jack!! Another bird that fills me up with good memories, & while Muskoka & other more northerly regions in general are part of that, the best & brightest associations are indeed with Algonquin. And yes, they’ll land on any part of your anatomy if they detect the smallest morsel of food. They are the personification of cheeky… with our Blue Jays a close second. Love all the Corvids… don’t see enough of these guys these days. GREAT shot, Michael!
