Gone For A While by James McKenzie

Posted on January 14, 2009

Hey everyone.

First and foremost, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported my work over the last year and a half since I joined RB. Its such a great community and I’m so thankful for all your kind words about my images.

Sadly its looking like I may not be around RB much over the next month or two. In the next few days my internet will be cut off and I may not have easy access to it again for quite some time as my parents have asked me and my older brother to move out. Im desperatly looking for a job in the Ringwood area and two housemates to live with us. So yea, any tips for moving out? anyone know of any jobs going? anyone looking to live in Ringwood?

Thanks again guys!!

Jay

Awww, So sorry to hear about both bits of news. I dont know anyone looking for flatmates, but advertisments in the paper are a good place to start, plus try www.christianflatshare.com – it might help? Hoe to see you back soon!

  • James McKenzie:

    Thanks :)

People always have to eat. So wherever there’s food there are usually
    jobs. Good luck, Jay!

  • James McKenzie:

Hey Jay – I truly hope things get sorted out, and that you aren’t gone too long! But most importantly I hope you find good living arrangements, and can get settled in somewhere that you are comfortable.

I look forward to seeing you here again soon!!

oh no…so sorry to hear that Jay. Will definately miss seeing your posts. You are a true talent. Hope you come back when you are all set in a new place. In the meantime, I wish you lots and lots of luck. A favorite website here in the states is craigslist.com – they include all kinds of listings from various living situations to jobs in the arts …even in Australia -I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! ;)

  • James McKenzie:

    Thank you! :)

What sort of job are you looking for? There are stacks of jobs in hospitality between Ringwood and Healesville.

  • James McKenzie:

Anything i can get really, im gettin a bit desperate haha. Reatil or Hospitality preferably. The thing is it needs to be around ringwood so i can get their cause i dont have a car yet.

Sorry to here about your situation, your way too young to be in this position, have you contacted the local churches in the area to see if they can help in some way.. also Swinburn in lilydale might have students looking for flat mates etc and Ringwood wouldn’t to far for them to travel to lilydale. I have a spare room on a temp basis if ya get desparate but ya be in a house full of teenagers, my kids go to ringwood for school so where pretty close. good luck and take care .

  • James McKenzie:

Yea, it’s a bit tough but I guess its learn now or later, to be truthful i think im gonna love living indapendently once I sort out the Job and the House, its just this first bit thats a struggle ;)
Thanks for the offer, I have a fair few friends (several from church) who have also said they have room for me if I’m desperate but I’m hoping it wont come to that. Thanks though!

Good luck Jay and I’m sure once you’re settled (which won’t be long), you’ll love the independence. You should approach all the local restaurants and offer to do some promotional photography for their food, you excel at that!

  • James McKenzie:

thanks friend. great idea, i wish it were that simple. :)

Good luck Jay! Sorry to hear of the stress and all. As someone above said, craigslist is a good resource here, but don’t know your exact location – the link for Australia is:
    http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/au
You also might check bulletin boards at any colleges or schools near you as there are almost always students looking for roommates. Hope all goes well.
