Gretel
I’v liked this image for a while but hesitated to use it because its not the best quality and ultimatly isnt that complex an image. However after giving it a bit of an edit I hope that its reached an acceptable standard now. It reminds me of old fairy tales, especialy Hansel and Gretel.
Hope yall like it.
Enjoy! _

I like this Jay. It’s simple, but none the less worthy for that. The fact that the focus isn’t perfect also seems to work in its favour, giving it a somewhat distant, detached quality.
There’s actually a group for images that you think haven’t quite come up to scratch – Do Over. One of my most popular images was in that group for a while; in the end I thought “heck, so many folk think it’s great, I’ll stop calling it imperfect”!
JayCougar replied
haha, same. my most popular image on DeviantART, and i think my 2nd most popular on here, i threw together in like 5min and was going to put into my scraps.
Thanks man :)

Sometimes the simple images are the most effective, the fact it is grainy and not razor sharp adds to the mystery. Well done and good on you for putting it up.

I was immediately impressed by this photograph… then I am a big fan of what I call ambigious simplicity.
and that is exactly what this is… at first glance the scene appears unassuming and lacking immediate impact… but as I look at it I am drawn to the trees and want to follow the girl to see if that is where she is going.
Suddenly I realize there is so much open interpretation here… and I realize why I was immediately attracted to the scene.
JayCougar replied
hmm u know more about my pictures than i do hahaha… glad u like it friend! _

haha.. yes I think the feature at the homepage could have had something to do with the sudden raise in comments on this work ;-)

the railways children was a film / tv series / play / etc set in the early 1900s. this particular crop (ie, not showing the footwear) reminds me of the clothes that the girls wore, ie, like this or this . a tenious link really lol :)

i see… thanks :)

Please consider adding this (and other groovy images) to Retro Conglomerate
JayCougar replied
Glad u like it, but its not really retro is it??
DeviousLili
The Group is not merely about retro models or attire or items or what have you … for me it is more about the Look and Feel of the overall editing/photography process.
If you’d rather withhold it, I completely understand! If we all saw the world in the same lens, what reason would there be for each of us to hold a different camera? ;)
JayCougar replied
Ok. well to me the image isn’t really retro shrug. But thanks heaps for showing interests, I have a few other images with retro editing to them so maybe u’ll see something from me in the future :)
Ciao.
