Why???? (questioning lifes journey)

Why do we have to work our arses off to buy that picket fence house? Why do we have to slave away and waste away our lives doing something we hate to gain, WHAT? Material possessions?

Why do we have to pay so much money for the right to live in a house? To be able to communicate with loved ones? To make sure we can see when we walk through the house at night?

Why do we work our whole lives to achieve wealth and nice furniture, oh and that great car? Why do we have to retire at age 65? Why don’t we retire now?

What could we be doing now that makes our lives truly worth while? You can be rich but have no friends or family. You can own that fantastic BMW, but have no one sitting beside you when you go places. You could work 27 hours a day to achieve a material lifestyle, or to put a roof over your head. But at the end of the day, what is truly important?

How can we achieve a life that is full of fun, joy, love without poverty, running ourselves into the ground?

I would prefer to live in a cottage in the middle of no-where, paint, take photos, make love, eat healthy food (and chocolate :) ) walk through gorgeous rainforrests, ranges, deserts, beaches etc, live in a way that is not full of stress, and aiming for something you may never even reach…… RETIREMENT!!! You do not know when your number is up….you could die way before that day of retirement. Why do we live for tomorrow and not look at what we can do today to improve our lives for the better.. and not financially, but emotionally, socially, spiritually… the true reasons we are here!

Very very well said…your words are very inspiring…I question the same things so often…I feel like I have gotten better with time. I have very materialistic parents…always have the best…and that’s great with them…but personally I would rather concentrate on the small things in life…because those small things end up making a huge difference in your life.

I think the most important things in life is following your passions (mine is photography art), loving and cherishing your family (because you only have them in this lifetime), helping others in their times of need (because you would appreciate the same), and most of all loving life (because you only live once…at least in this lifetime).

  • Spot on!!! at the end of the day, we have to live with ourselves… and next to that those close to us are the most important! No matter what anyone says we should do what we feel we want to do in this life..even if we have to live out of a car lol.

Bonus to have parents that can give as well :)

    Thank you for your comment.

freedom is having less than ten bucks in your back pocket but still wanting to wake up to see a new day… you lose your freedom once you start paying or owing money. I think in this crazy, frantic, hectic, fast-paced, materialistic, deceptive, twisted world, everyone longs for a simple life again, it’s like humanity has turned full circle and is beginning to appreciate cave drawings again. If you could promote and package honesty and then give it away for free, you’d be an instant millionaire. Inspiring writing.

  • Thank you… yes I think at the moment, that I am questioning life full on… but I guess life has to change sometime :)
