Silent Release

The end of the year is a time of reflection for me.
Today I went out and did just that….and managed to release some final demons.
This is very much a personal piece based on an exercise for Mindfulness. A ‘final’ exercise before moving into 2009….one that I have struggled with and needed to complete….

Silent Release belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Core [C.O.R.E] and Live, Love, Dream:

Today, I stood in silent contemplation amongst the trees .
I breathed in deep and, as the light shone above, through the leaves,
I inhaled memories….
Sweet thoughts of friendships new and old, people here and departed,
Love and passion, places and things, journeys ended and started.
As the past made its presence felt in the forefront of my mind,
I looked up at the sky and in realisation, I smiled.
The woman that I am today is a jigsaw made up of incredible parts.
All different shapes and sizes, each with a reason for being in my heart.
Every piece tells a story and together they create a whole.
Without one I would not be complete, they’re deep within my soul.
“Acknowledgement is a form of release” – words I could never understand.
But today I finally let go of all the baggage I’d been carrying around.
As I breathed out, the air carried away all of the memories and fears.
Love lost, loneliness, heartache and tears.
Voices raised in anger and the effects of abuse,
Were carried away up to the clouds and I gradually let them loose.
Every experience, pleasurable or hurtful has made me stronger in many ways.
That’s why all the pieces of my jigsaw are here with me to stay.
I no longer despise the pieces that caused pain.
I don’t need to pick them out and remember them again.
I’ll acknowledge them for the lessons that they were meant to be,
Learn from them every single day….and enjoy 2009 as ME.

Fasntastic to know you, Jaqui. Do you know that my first ever friend was called Jaqui? When we were six, we used to kiss behind the dustbins at school. And once, the manipulative little thing convinced me to undress in front of her!
