Since I was a child, I had a recurring dream – more of a nightmare actually.
I’m walking down a cobbled street and see this huge glass-fronted building. Curiosity gets the better of me and in I go…
Inside there’s a train – quite modern, and it looks like it’s gonna go shit-hot fast. Being the wild child that I am, I jump onboard.
So, when I get in there, it’s a normal looking train. There aren’t any other passengers – just little old me. I reckon I’ll get off at the next stop so I just stand.
All of a sudden, the lights go off and I’m in pitch black darkness. And….I start floating!!
I can’t touch anything, I can’t see anything – I’m just floating around in space – and so it goes on for what feels like hours.
Years down the line, I’m talking to my mam….we’re chatting about allsorts and she says to me ‘Do you still have that recurring nightmare? Tell me about it.’
So..I tell her from start to finish…with all the gruesome, scary detail.
She only turns to me with a total look of horror on her face and tells me that when she was 8 months pregnant with me, she went on a ride at the local fair. She was scared stupid on the ride because she thought she was going to give birth there and then!! LOL
The ride spun me around with so much force she was convinced I was going to protest and demand to be let out. HA!
So…mam…..thankyou for 30-odd years of recurring nightmares and I guess it’s your fault that I love rollercoasters and anything that gives me an adrenalin rush….I’ve been like this since I was a foetus…...

Your ma must be a pretty cool chick to get on a ride at 8months preggers…I couldnt handle being in the car and driving down a hill by the time i was 6months along lol…

once or twice, yes!! It made me play classical music to my goddaughter before she was born. I didn’t want her coming out traumatised…lol
