Gorgeous Flammulina velutipes! A tastey treat as well. One of my favorite wild mushrooms to photograph.
Thank you Carla, I had not yet found its name. Its my first capture of this species, but then I’ve not been doing this for very long… :)
Thanks Thomas! :)
Great image…love that closeup!
Thank you ! :)
Thanks for selecting my photo for the group features, I like that! :)
Lovely how the image goes from shadow to translucence. Congratulations on your feature in Monochrome in Color – FAVE!
As you can see it was a rainy day where there were just enough patches of light to make it interesting. Thanks for the kind comment! :)
Thank you very much for the feature!! :)
A Bunch of Something
Thanks for running the challenge Mary, it was fun!
Aside from the obvious, what really draws me into this is your wall-to-wall composition. I’ve seen so many shots with this kind of potential that miss the point by allowing some space with in the image, no matter how small, to be occupied by background. And to bring it totally home, you allow the big guy place of pride exactly where he needs to be in your frame to make this a killer fungal orgasm!
So now for the obvious… your combination of just the right DOF and perfectly diffused back light combines with equally perfect weather conditions to make these puppies look more delicious than Belgian pralines. I can actually feel those textured ribs sliding down my gullet leaving an after taste of sweet molasses. Of course what I don’t know about mushrooms could very well kill me one day… but it would almost be worth a stomach pump.Right?I absolutely love this !!
Thank you for those explicit thoughts on this shot Bill, it’s good to see you name some of the things I tried to do here, and even a few more! :) I actually had to fix a gap where the background peeked through the pattern.
Although I enjoyed your decription of the imagined swallowing sensation I’m sure I prefer the pralines any day :)
