How brilliant is Stephen King??!?!?!
Ok, so I’ve read a lot of Stephen King’s newer stuff, but now I’m reading his old stuff, Pet Sematary if you must ask.
It is amazing!!! I’m pretty sure that King is one of the only authors that can scare the pants of people reading!!!
I also just saw 1408, and although the movie is very different from the short story, I still enjoyed it (who wouldn’t, John Cusack + Hawaiian Shirt = AMAZING lmao, who doesn’t like John Cusack really?) I like to think that after YEARS of watching scary movies (from Zombies and Vampires to ghosts and puppets, and let us not forget the demon possessed children!) I was pretty brave, but 1408 really scared me, what a rush! Highly recommended!
Has anyone read Duma Key yet? is it worth buying?
ps, if anyone has a copy of Salem’s Lot or Carrie, and are willing to sell, let me know!

LOL, I’ve read heaps of Stephen King, and seen a lot of the movie adaptions. Some of the books are brilliant, but not so many of the movies, heheh :)
I hit a wall with him though, and haven’t read any of his stuff for years now, but my favourites would be The Stand (love the first half as the world dies from disease), The Talisman (everyone should have a pet werewolf), and The Eyes of the Dragon (Stephen King does a fairytale for his little girl). The Long Walk written as Richard Bachman is pretty cool too (a reality show concept well before reality shows).
The very first book of his that I read as a kid was IT, which was pretty creepy. I haven’t read any of his new ones, as I got sick of stories always set in Maine, USA, always someone’s a writer, and the ideas started to seem to familiar. Be interesting to hear which of his newer ones you like.

His old stuff is better,

Dreamcatcher, hearts in atlantis, Black House (co-written with Peter Straub)...I adore Stephen King, always have. Cujo was one of his older ones that scared the absolute crap out of me, lol.

Cujo was amazing! lol I will never look at my dog the same way lmao

Just finished reading Duma Key yesterday. Loved it.. but then there isn’t much of his work that I don’t like and I have read practically everything that’s been published and a number of things that haven’t.
I love the way that he entwines stories that a casual reader might think are totally unrelated, but the constant readers know better.

The movie is excellent and the Ramones song in it of the same name is haunting
