This painting resulted from a research trip to Hobart, with the idea of perhaps moving there to live. My wife and I were based in Brisbane at the time, after two years in the UK and the weather was killing us. Hobart seemed like a good option. We later ended up relocating here to Melbourne but the trip to Tasmania, which we both love, produced a few paintings. This particular outcrop is located not far from the lookout on the incredible, spectacular Mt Wellington, overlooking the town. It was a very early painting in this series and I was still defining my aims and finding my way.
