Thunderbolt's Rock by Jason Moad

Thunderbolt’s Rock, named for the famous bushranger, is a real place just the Armidale side of Uralla. I’ve reworked the real details of the location somewhat, particularly editing out a picnic bench that actually stands between the rock and the viewer. The sky is invented and it is the first and, so far, only time I’ve based my palette around purple, yellow and green. I still really fond of this painting and I later returned to a similar them with “The History Wars.”

I live in Uralla and have to say you’ve done a fine job of good ole Thunderbolts Rock. The grafitti is still there – apparently even the grafitti is of historical significance so they don’t wash it off.
