Artist's Description

After waking up to a drizzly morning, I resigned to the fact that I wouldn’t be shooting anything today. As the afternoon bore on, however, I noticed the cloud cover dispersing in such a way that the sun’s light was shining upon the Dandenongs. I set off to shoot the Alfred Nicholas Gardens in the few hours of daytime that remained. By the time I got there, the light was not at all conducive to the way I wanted to portray that area.

So, this is where I ended up… Olinda Falls… and I have to say, I’m glad I did end up here! Despite countless visits to this location over the years, I never captured anything that I felt was worthy of publication… it always just ended up looking like a trickle of water over some rocks. Since that 67mm downpour that we had the other night, however, this spot has come alive! This is the kind of image I always envisaged taking home from Olinda Falls.
