We launched leggings! Step into a world of individuality.

When I finally managed to pull myself away from the rock pool behind Sphinx Rock, I couldn’t just walk back along Sorrento Back Beach like normal people would… I had to go out and walk along the rocks, continually peering back to see if there were any good views of said landmark from ‘across the water’. That’s how I came to capture this beauty!

At the time of this capture, the sun had risen above the top of the cliffs to the right, but was still fairly low in the sky, giving that soft lighting across the Sphinx. Meanwhile, the tide had turned beyond its low point and was starting to come in, with waves of increasing strength and height pounding against the rocks in the foreground and all around me…

…with a few seconds to go in the final of five bracketed exposures for this shot, the biggest wave I had seen all morning crashed against the rocks a few metres to my left. I had to crane my neck to see the height of the spray… and then looked down to see foamy, white, ankle-deep (plus some) water rushing towards me. The shutter clicked closed, I picked up the camera and tripod and held them above my head, while I was condemned to spend the rest of the day in wet shoes, socks and jeans. It’s a good thing I love what I do grin
