After so many failed attempts at capturing a decent sunset behind Sphinx Rock at Sorrento Back Beach, I think I finally found the key ingredient today… even if it was at the wrong end of the day!
I had always been trying to shoot at high tide, which was very limiting compositionally at this location… this morning I was shooting at LOW TIDE, which allowed me to get out on the rocks and capture a far more dramatic scene as the water rose up onto the plateaus in the foreground and then dribbled back into the sea.
As much as I lament the wasted hours of my time at Sphinx Rock in the past (not to mention the many litres of petrol getting to/from said location), I can’t wait to get down there for another dusk shoot some time soon!
