Artist's Description

This second photo of the same Fuchsia flower was taken using ambient light coming through my living room window and reflecting off the white cardboard reflector late in the afternoon. To even out this natural light on the subject, I combine seven exposures to generate a HDR image in post-processing.

To achieve this ‘sketch’ effect, I applied the notrO Effect quite heavily, and then played around with the different layer blending modes in Photoshop until this one caught my eye. The effect was emphasized somewhat by increasing the brightness and contrast after desaturation.

This photograph can be purchased as a print in a range of sizes and styles, from postcards to posters, by clicking the button below:

  1. Canon EOS 450D
  2. Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS @ 55mm
  3. 1 second @ f/8 (ISO100)
  4. Manfrotto 190XB tripod with 804RC2 head
  5. HDR generated from 7 exposures (0, +/-1ev, +/-2ev, +/-3ev) using Photomatix Pro
  6. Orton effect, desaturation, corrections and enhancements applied using Photoshop CS4 with Imagenomic Noiseware Professional plug-in
