Artist's Description

After generating the HDR image for this second photo of Alfred Nicholas’ boathouse, Photomatix seemed to have found a whole range of weird and wonderful colours on the wood that I don’t think I’ve ever seen on any of my countless trips to this location… hence the black-and-white, which I think worked well for this photograph anyway.

Much like the first photo in this series, I applied the “reverse” Orton effect to help bring out the contrast a little more… desaturating the image helped to achieve the desired effect even more!
