Schminckies soft pastel on rough drawing paper.
22" X 30".
I often save things for just the right time.
I had been saving this beautiful soft paper which I had smeared yellow soft pastel on for years. I don’t know since when.
I had also been saving leftover bits and dust of Schminckies soft pastels in tiny plastic bags which I had dearly brought to Korea when I taught there for a year, like they were bits of precious gems.
Now….I am waiting for neck surgery and the pain sometimes restricts what I can do with my arms and hands. So one day I took this lovely paper and layed it on the floor of my studio. This I could manage.
I took out my box of little bags of tiny pastel bits and gently blended them onto the paper. It was very soothing for my pain and mind.
No Walls House evolved into a representation of how I feel about living on the prairies…about the expansive land and generousitiy of spirit…the never ending shifting of light and colours on the land and in the sky, as each moment, day and season melts away into the next…..it represents my home of light and a sense of endless possibilities.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by.
