Dog Rocks - The Older Brother by

Not the usual subject at Dog Rocks, this larger (& older I assume) tree is down on the west side of the rise. I was amazed to see it _in bloom in the middle of winter (24 July)_.
Photograph taken at dawn.

Do you blame it!!!! If I was a lens I would fog up at that time of the morning…lol

  • haha – I agree – I was fogging up too; it was freezing !
we were very lucky, most of Melbourne was covered in fog, but it was clear at Dog Rocks, there was fog in the valley which looked just beautiful.

I looked at it and admired it but didn’t photograph it – another lesson for me. Well done!

when I paint, it is my soul who paints… I fall in love and have a love affair with my subject even if it is only for one hour… and leave a part of my soul in each piece… do you do that too when you aim your camera? or do you simply capture the moment?

there is a comfort of an older brother in this shot…

  • thanks mimi (i wrote my reply and just as I was about to hit the button, my computer reset…ahh ! – I’ll try again…:-)
when i shoot, i try to capture the hidden beauty of the scene in the frame and I’m always looking for something different.
I also try to tell a story. In this one I saw the older brother at the base of the hill – not showing off at the peak of the mound, but displaying it’s strength and wisdom below, blossoming in the middle of winter.
I sometimes relate songs and lyrics to a scene while I’m shooting them or when I’m reviewing them which give the shot an emotional or sentimental meaning to me.
I’m not that good at drawing (wish i was) because i’d love to be able to do what you do and paint what I feel, so I guess in a sense I try to do that through photography.
