The sunlight through the petals and leaves looked lovely against the backdrop of the snow outside. Sunshine in Alaska always seems precious, even indoors—especially during a long dark winter. We grew these from bulbs at this south-facing window in our main living area. This has become my most popular and purchased shot. I’m humbled.

Winner of Tulips in Vases challenge (I know, how many people have those photos or flowers hanging around, ready to pop into a challenge, eh? Thank you, Patty Boyte, for letting me know of the challenge in ‘09!) I’m truly appreciative.

this is wonderful jan just love it . do you just stand the tupis in the vase bottom and add water or do you put them on a matting of some kind. really want to try this next year.
They come with the vase and the bulbs already sit on a plastic setting – to keep the bulbs from rotting. Then we water only up to the bottom of the bulbs. I assume you could create this with some ingenuity, Karen.

Very colorful and pretty! Great idea!
Oh how pretty! They have done well in this window! And look amazing! What a wonderful composition!
Wonderful Jan! I love the color and the reflections! Great shot! :)
What an absolutely GORGEOUS image, Jan!! Impeccable composition and the reflection in the window adds such a special touch!! btw – We have glorious sunshine today too! Don’t have a picture of it (unsuccessful – so far – at talking hubby into taking me out in the skiff) but you should see it dancing on the water!! Of course… STILL only seeing this between snow squalls! This is just a glorious image to see today!!
Beautiful work, love it!
Your humour is refreshing Jan, and I love the pretty Tulips! They are lovely and look wonderful in the vases you have chosen. I am so happy you are experiencing sunshine!! With all the volcanic activity in the past several days, the warmth reflected in this lovely image is a blessing!!
